Is there a way we can see what other teams have submited and the times. Ie, real time team problem tracking. Dana
hallo Dana!
We haven’t thought about this before but… if there are enought teams interested, maybe we can try to show some statistics in some hours (when some more people have had the opportunity to send stuff)
Just as a poll: how many of you believe this would be useful?
We agree with Dana. It can be very useful to see the other teams’ submission time.

I think it is useless most importantly because it will affect the fun and the excitement of the contest in the negative way..
I think it is useful to see statistics! Makes the competition more interesting!
Good idea Dana !
Did anyone begin problem 7 yet? I am wondering about the hint to use a library. Is someone using a third-party library or is there any built-in library in C or C++ to handle arbitrary precision?
Good idea Dana
It’s pretty hectic over here…the atmosphere is just amazing!! I wonder whether the other groups are enjoying it as much as we are here in UAE!
Not a bad idea, but here’s a different suggestion - show the stats AFTER the contest - this way if somebody is falling behind on schedule will not feel demotivated.
Hello,
What do we do for unmatched words in problem 3? simply output the same thing?
Thanks.

What does UAE stand for?
We are the CSUN team (California State Univerity, Northridge).
UAE stands for “United Arab Emirates”…maybe Dubai might be more familiar
We are actually representing the IEEE student branch located at the American University of Sharjah (AUS)
I think this will make the teams that are behind speed up and the teams that are ahead slow down and check their answers more. What do you all think? We have finshed three problems and after the fourth one we may go home and catch some sleep. The proctors especially. How many problems have you all solved. One thing to keep in mind is no one will know if their problem is trully correct untill the contest is over. Dana
BTW how many of you have sung the beatles song yeat. We sung it about 10 mins ago after one of the proctors downloaded it from his home PC.
I also ment to ask… Where are all you coder’s from (College,Country)? Are there any other teams from the USA out there? Dana
hallo,
We are not convinced that real-time statistics was a good idea to show (especially since we can only monitor number of submissions, not neccesarily correctness, so it is not the best metric to show)
However, we will try to post some statistics later in the competition, just to give everybody a feeling on how things are going
Oh! and it goes without saying that we think you should all schedule times for resting when you get tired (or do turns)
thanks a lot to all! this is being a really good competition!
Hello there,
Hope you’re all having fun as we do here in UK
I was wondering if that’s possible to send an ‘alert e-mail’ to proctors after each update on questions. Because we check the site every now and then, but it would be nice to see the updates as soon as they’re sent.
Also, re: statistics, perhaps it would be motivating to see some information about the participating teams. Their location, photos, team names, etc. What do you think?
Cheers for now,
Emine G.
We will be taking a sleeping break in about 10mins because the proctors need to get some sleep too. We just want to finsh one more problem then we will quit for the night and start up again at 19:00GMT. Dana
We don’t need to sleep… coding is more important than our health
Empty your memory,
with a free()….
like a pointer!
If you cast a pointer to a integer,
it becomes the integer,
if you cast a pointer to a struct,
it becomes a struct….
The pointer can crash…,
and can Overflow…
Be a pointer my friend….
Hey we do need more problems. We are hungry.
Guillem: as you can see by Dennis Ritchie’s response… some sleep is definitely needed (otherwise, you start making this type of posts!)
People seem to be both doing hard work and having a lot of fun! We are very happy to see how the contest is going so far!
one of our teams suggest that the contest should last longer than 24 hours
they are definitely having fun
Let’s all just go to bed…
I just want to let you know we enjoyed it very much!!!
We can’t wait to see the results.
Now my eyes are closing and my brain’s stack is unaligned
A Big Thank You to the “IEEE Xtreme Team” for the great work!
I hope you tested it throughly, segmentation faults aren’t very much fun. But what is fun is the 4 rounds of Starcraft we have been playing.
Just wondering if the solutions to the problems will be posted for those of us who are programming newbies (myself and team)?
Or maybe have place where we can peruse the solutions from the competitors after the competition is over?
